Ponderings From The Homeless Finch Studio: Taking Time To Nurture The Soul

Many of you are women, just like me.  Many of you are mothers, just like me.  Many of you juggle more balls than what we ever thought possible, just like me.  Many of you don't take the time to nurture your souls, just like me.  We push push push forward doing for others, achieving our dreams, rescuing the unrescue-able and most definitely losing something of ourselves while juggling all of it.

This week, I have been spending time fixing, painting, feeding, and renovating my soul.  Nope, I haven't been working on a project that will be revealed anytime soon. I have been working on myself.  A project that has been long overdue for attention.  I have been taking the time to smell the flowers, reading up in some super wonderful books and magazines that feed my soul.  I have been taking a moment to enjoy a wonderful little lunch all lone while sitting on my dock enjoying the clear skies that alluded us for weeks.  I even (gasp) went and got my nails done yesterday and today (gasp) plan on shopping for a few fresh things to wear.

Have you taken the time to nurture your soul?  It is a choice you know.   If you blog, do you allow it to take over too much time in your life robbing you of the much needed down time that we all need?  Don't get me wrong, I'm not leaving my blog, just taking a rest of sorts to...well, upcycle myself....

Kudos Lesley! Thanks for the reminder. Some days are better than others, but there are times when I hit the wall with "expectations", and need to cut back too. Good for you. Have a great time taking care of yourself!

Bravo!!! Can you hear the cheers? I did this around Christmas, and vowed to take periodic breaks. I worked on my hair a few days ago. BIG EVENT! lol I'm glad you're feeding your soul, Lesley. It's a beautiful one.

Sometimes projects feed my soul, and sometimes cooking does, and sometimes reading does...but it can't happen all at once! Lately it's been reading. It's not so easy to blog about, however ;-) I'm trying to remind myself that I blog for myself, and not (so much) for others, so it's OK to take a break and do other things! I don't want it to become a JOB!

Amen, Sister! You are so right! I learned the hard way through illness so PLEASE, all of you...have faith and then love yourself, in that order...REALLY love yourself and then all the rest will fall into place or not. If it doesn't, you'll have the strength to face it if you've taken care of YOU!

Well said and well done. I have to admit that for the past year I haven't really allowed myself to have "free time." I do remember it though. :o) When I began my second year of blogging I vowed to relax a bit. I've had a little success but have a ways to go. A work in progress you might say. Enjoy yourself. Happy shopping.

that is a wonderful post my friend. I also am about to do the same sort of thing...working on me with a group of ladies at church for a weekend retreat. I was on the "receiving team" last year ,.. and this year I am excited to be on the "giving team". we plan to make new friends and share our lives with each other for two days. I am looking forward to it so much

Good for you! Blogging is fun, but when it gets to be work, it's time to take a little break. We'll all still be here if it's a day, a week, or a month. Pamper yourself!
