Christmas Morning Granola
It is just one week until Christmas Day, the fact that you are even able to read this post is a miracle! Here is a quick and easy, but oh so super nice hostess gift. Make this and place it in a pretty jar. The recipient will thank you for it. On a busy Christmas Morning it's a real simple treat and will remind them how much you care.
Mix together in a large bowl:
4 Cups Old Fashioned Oats
1 Cup Flaked Coconut
1/2 Cup Wheat Germ
1/2 Cup Sesame Seeds
1/2 Cup Slivered Almonds
1-1/2 Teaspoon of Salt
1-1/2 Teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil
1/4 Cup Packed Brown Sugar
1/3 Cup Honey
1/3 Cup Water
1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
Pour the dissolved contents of the saucepan into the bowl of dried ingredients and mix well.
Spread the mixture out on a baking pan and bake in a preheated oven at 275 F for one hour or until golden brown, stirring every 15 minutes.
Cool completely. Stir in dried fruits. I use all of the following.
**Your Choice**
1/2 Cup Golden Raisins
1/2 Cup Chopped Dried Apricots
1/2 Cup Chopped Dates
1/2 Cup Whole Roasted Almonds
1/2 Cup Dried Cranberries
1/2 Cup Dried Apples
An old friend made this for me once. I cannot tell you how much we all loved this little treat! Other than chopping the dried fruit, it takes no time at all. This gift of food is made that much more special when you deliver it in a nice jar with a tight fitting lid, topped off with a super special bow...
